MIG Welder Description
Salary $19-$22 per hour
Scelzi Enterprises, Inc. MIG Welders use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld truck bodies by joining sheet metal components. They grind materials, square parts/materials to fit accordingly, and cut or shorten parts/ materials as needed per blue prints. MIG Welders set up, test, and adjust welding machines to allow correct heat source according to the selected raw material for perfect welds. Welders are independent workers and may be building parts such as tool boxes, ladder racks, doors, sides & floors. Welders who are experienced in fabrication may work in the customs department which includes using any combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or computer technologies to complete the truck body.
Essential Functions

MIG Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares and rulers.
Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum stainless steel, zinc, steel (black iron).
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
Select and install torches, torch tips to welding chart specifications or types and thickness of metals.
Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
Chip off access weld, using portable grinders.
Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders.
Position and secure workpieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools.
Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
Repair metals form break and shear by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.
Check angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers and precision measuring instruments.
Set up and use ladders necessary to complete work.
Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment.

Work Environment
This job operates in a shop production environment. Includes exposure to contaminants. Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures. Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings. Requires exposure to hazardous equipment and conditions. Requires work with others in a group or team. Requires coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities. Includes responsibility for the health and safety of others. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Requires wearing specialized protective or safety equipment.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50lbs periodically. Requires standing, walking, repetitive movement, bending or twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, reaching, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Required Education and Experience Two plus years of work experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must pass S.E. welding test. Must Pass pre-employment drug test, and agility test. Must pass respiratory test.
