Key Responsibilities
Translate customer needs into feasible design concepts in collaboration with Sales and Customers ensuring proposed solutions meet cost, quality and manufacturing objectives.
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks with complete product definition and bill of materials.
Support sales proposals, quoting and cost estimation.
Create and update technical drawings with precise dimensional accuracy.
Ability to design and draft part and/or whole components of small and large assembly structured models with use of configurations and display states appropriate for the component or assembly.
Accurately measure and recreate complex geometries in SolidWorks.
Utilize SolidWorks and sheet metal programming tools as needed for specific projects.
Perform calculations for strength, material selection, and strength while maintaining manufacturability through current and new manufacturing technology.
Manage and maintain design files and associated documentation using SolidWorks.
Collaborate effectively with team members to drive results and ensure products meet the specifications outlined in the drawings and adhere to quality standards.
Stay current with industry technology advancements and trends to ensure proper integration into the product portfolio.
Document and report any discrepancies or issues with incoming orders.
Create layout prints, application drawings and technical documentation for sales.
Ensure designs are kept compliant with regulations, industry standards, and manufacturing constraints.
Collaborate with shop floor personnel to update and create work instructions and ensure best practices are sustained and improved.
Technical ownership of all project aspects through the entire product lifecycle.
Define product specifications for custom designs or modifications to existing products.
Ability to work independently on projects contributing to team success.
Work flexible hours as needed to support production demands.

Competencies/Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent years of experience. (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
Minimum 5 years of experience in product engineering or engineering development in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Proficient in reading, interpreting and creating blueprints, technical drawings, and Bill of Materials.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials, particularly sheet metal fabrication.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with ERP systems and SolidWorks PDM implementation a plus.
Experience with automotive systems (electrical, drivetrain, hydraulics, pneumatics’ etc.) preferred.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office and shop environment. Includes exposure to sounds and noise level that are distracting or uncomfortable. Must be able to lift 50lbs periodically. May require working outdoors in non-controlled environmental conditions. Requires walking, standing, repetitive movement, using hands to handle, tools, controls, and feel for flaws. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses, work boots and ear plugs.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must pass basic math test. Must pass pre-employment drug test, and physical.
