Purchasing Agents are responsible for purchasing equipment, tools, parts, and supplies necessary for truck body up fitting manufacturing operations as well as develop and maintain existing relationships with suppliers, to effectively address issues related to price, delivery and quality of purchased parts. Duties include assisting the scheduling department in verifying component available for manufacturing job orders. Effectively manage and consolidate supplier base. Research and specify part requirements based on needs and specifications from both internal and external customers. Evaluate supplier and manufacturing capacity to be able to modify supply source requirements to balance with manufacturing capacity. Work effectively with vendors to provide all necessary technical information required by production and engineering on purchased components. Be familiar with Quick Books Manufacturing (for purchase order entry) as well as general receiving procedures.

  1. 1.Prepare purchase orders.
  2. 2.Communicate with scheduling department to verify components.
  3. 3.Purchase the highest quality at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  4. 4.Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  5. 5.Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  6. 6.Maintain and log records using spreadsheets of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
  7. 7.Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
  8. 8.Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services.
  9. 9.Confer with production staff and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
  10. 10.Learn about products, services, and prices.
  11. 11.Arrange the payment of duty and freight charges.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office / sales environment.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 lbs periodically.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days are Monday through Friday from 7:20 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Required Education and Experience
  1. 1.The job requires a minimum 3 years purchasing experience in truck parts, researching parts and vendors, negotiating pricing, and determining the ETA of parts.
  2. 2.Three (3) years experience using QuickBooks.
  3. 3.Able to type 45 WPM and use 10-key
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must pass basic math test.
Must pass typing test.
Must pass preplacement physical
Must pass pre placement hair follicle drug test.
